The Minister of Tourism, the honourable Derek Hanekom, will launch the first ever South African wine tourism strategy at The Business of Wine and Food Tourism to be held at Spier Estate, near Stellenbosch, on 1 and 2 November 2016. Tim Harris, CEO of Wesgro will discuss its implementation in the Western Cape. International and local experts will deliver presentations on wine tourism trends and global best practices for wine and food tourism.
The Vineyard and sister hotel, Oude Werf, will be hosting a number of key delegates attending the conference and our own Karl Parkinson, Group Sales Manager and Roy Davies, Vineyard GM, will be participating.
“We are delighted to be participating in and hosting some key attendees of The Business of Wine & Food Tourism Conference,” said Karl. “The Vineyard and Oude Werf Hotels are perfectly located in two of South Africa’s best producing wine regions. At both venues, we offer wine enthusiasts and oenophiles an opportunity to combine a luxurious stay with an insightful wine and culinary experience. The Vineyard has a long history of cultivating deep-rooted partnerships with local wine farms. This conference indicates official recognition of wine-and-food tourism as a force driving tourism to the Western Cape.”
