This month, enjoy the warmer evenings exploring wines from some of South Africa’s most loved estates at our complimentary wine-tastings, every Monday at 6pm in the Garden Lounge.

On the 3rd of October, Waterford Estate will introduce us to their wines and “the Waterford Way” – their philosophy celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that is undertaken at Waterford. “Every guest to the farm is made to feel a part of the Waterford Way, and those who have visited are drawn back often not only to the sumptuous wines, but to the heart and soul of Waterford.”

On the 10th of October guests will enjoy the wines of family-farm Delheim Estate. Grown on the slopes of the Simonsberg, Delheim wines garner an annual crop of medals, stars and other awards. Perhaps the most awarded of all is Delheim’s Grand Reserve, but the Pinotage Rose and Spatzendreck dessert wine are also much admired.

The elegant wines from Gabrielskloof will be available for tasting on the 17th of October.  Established near Hermanus in 2000, the farm celebrated its first vintage in 2009. Since then the focus has remained on producing the best possible quality – from handpicked grapes to meticulous sorting, subtle pressing and maturation in oak barrels. Notable wines include the Rosebud, Swartrivier Shiraz and Viognier.

On the 24th of October, it’s the turn of perennially popular Neil Ellis wines. Described as “one of the finest winemakers of his generation”, Neil Ellis pioneered a Burgundian approach in Cape wine-making circles. He was the first to produce a wine from Elgin-grown grapes and release a wine from the Darling region. With an emphasis on the environment and on caring viticultural practices, this family-run estate focuses on making distinctive, refined wines that are expressive of their varied terroir and rank among some of South Africa’s finest.

The last tasting in October, on the 31st, will showcase a selection of wines from the cellars of Kleine Zalze in the Stellenbosch countryside. Known for their distinctly South African character, these wines – from the flagship KZ Family Reserve and Vineyard Selection, to the more accessible Cellar Selection and Foot of Africa ranges – boast lively, full-bodied flavour.

A representative from each of the estates will host the hour-long tastings from 18h00. Tastings take place on Mondays in the Garden Lounge only and are free of charge.
